Acceptable use policy
Conduct and content rules that protect tenants, landlords, property owners, applicants and the RentSignal service.

Permitted use
Use RentSignal only for genuine, lawful rental listing, application, viewing, profile-sharing, lease, assessment, subscription, support and dispute activities.
Prohibited listings and content
- False, stale, duplicate, bait, unavailable or misleading listings.
- Listings posted without ownership or lawful authority.
- Unlawful discriminatory wording, criteria or screening instructions.
- Content that infringes copyright, privacy, confidentiality or other rights.
- Malware, malicious links, impersonation, forged documents or fraudulent payment requests.
- Harassment, hate, threats, sexual exploitation, doxxing or publication of private identifiers.
Prohibited data use
- Scraping, bulk extraction, account enumeration or building a tenant or landlord blacklist.
- Selling, licensing or sharing private profile data outside the approved rental purpose.
- Using protected characteristics or unlawful proxies to rank or exclude applicants.
- Uploading another person's confidential documents without authority.
- Trying to bypass consent, role controls, profile expiry, storage rules or moderation restrictions.
Platform and security abuse
- Unauthorised access, vulnerability exploitation, interference, denial of service or credential attacks.
- Reverse engineering or automated access except where law permits or RentSignal gives written permission.
- Using multiple accounts to evade a restriction, package limit, dispute outcome or moderation action.
- Sending spam or using RentSignal messages for unrelated marketing.
Enforcement and reporting
RentSignal may investigate, preserve evidence, restrict content, suspend features, terminate accounts and report suspected unlawful conduct where appropriate. Report abuse to legal@rentsignal.co.za.
